The dead Mother

€ 9.500 ( inc. 6% VAT, exc. transport etc.) Marijke A.Deege, elm, unique, lengt 250 cm I long wanted to carve a relief into this solid wooden plank ( Dutch elm), but commissions took precedence on each occasion. Then, finally, I put down the 2-metre long plank so that I could work on it. I made a few telling incisions in the surface of the wood, making the contours of what I had envisaged: the image of the dead mother. I knew the image: I had carried it with me from a young age. The photo could not be shown in its enitrely, which is a pity; however, the alternative was in three sections. From the bottom upwards, in terms of the plank, and from right to left, in terms of the photo, you first see the child, then the mother in the arms of the angel and, subsequently, the road to the lamb, the symbol of Chtist.
